The Church
A total of 45% of respondents said that they attend a Parish church three times a year or more, 36% rarely or never. Approximately
20% said that the closure of their nearest church would make no difference to them personally, whilst the great majority of
those who expressed an opinion said they would be sorry to see their church close.
Suggestions for new initiatives by the Church varied greatly, but a notable number of respondents suggested making use
of the churches for broader purposes such as musical events and gatherings for those of any or no faith.
The Community Village Hall
The Community Village Hall is owned by a charitable trust operated by trustees on behalf of the Parish.
A significant minority - 19% - felt there should be changes to the Community Village Hall, though there was little consistency
in how. The most common concern was over cost, including the cost of extras such as heating and cutlery hire.
The Post Office
The fate if the Post Office has, of course, since been decided. However, whilst a high proportion of respondents felt the
Post Office was very important, 54% of admitted that they used it never, rarely or perhaps once a month.
Overwhelmingly (48 instances), the written comments on what would provide encouragement to use the Post Office more, said
they would like to see a shop there. Many specified what they wanted sold, almost all specifying items newspapers, alcohol
or basic groceries. We now have a shop in the Village Hall, so please support this venture.
The Pub
There is clearly a great desire for the Queen Elizabeth to re-open. 85% of people believe it is essential to the community
to have such a facility. 59% of people said it was personally important and 33% quite important!
Most of the comments added related to diversifications which would help them to use it more, such as operating as a cafe
with a more open and welcoming frontage, an off-sales facility and good food. All comments and data have been passed to the
new owner.
