Welcome   The Response   Housing and Development   Maintenance   Transport   Community   Climate Change

Thank you. We received an excellent response!

Did we get a good enough level of response?

In total, 225 people returned questionnaires. If we exclude the very young and the resident guests at Bricklehampton Hall, the total potential number of returns is approximately 510, giving an overall return rate of 44%.

This is considered a fair response rate, especially as it is known that a great many households opted to return just one questionnaire between all residents. In relation to the total of approximately 280 households, the proportion of returns is very high indeed. With these points in mind, the Steering Group is satisfied that the views and/or needs of well over 50% of the population have been represented and, therefore, that the survey results has a high degree of authority.

Who responded?

Age

Response was broadly in line with the population. That said, we would like to have seen more direct responses from young people and children. As it is, the results are likely to be slightly weighted towards the adult sections of the community.

Gender

Almost exactly evenly split.

Registered disabled

12% of respondents said they were registered as disabled. This is fractionally below the UK national average of 14% (source: Disability Rights Commission).

Expected length of stay

73% said “rest of life/foreseeable future” and another 17% “5 to 10 years”. With 90% of residents expecting to stay put for at least 5 years, this is a very settled community.

Main home

94% of responses were classified as main home. Second homes are not an issue within the Parish.
